The International Commission on Workforce Development has teamed with TechSoup Kenya to offer discounts on its e-Skills360° computer-based courses in information technology and professional development.
The courses are available to nonprofit organizations and public libraries. Each qualifying organization may request an unlimited number of discounted courses in blocks of 10. The 10 PIN codes the organization receives in each block allow the same person to take different courses or different people to take the same course. Consult the eligibility and restrictions page to review your organization's eligibility to participate in this program.
Staff and volunteers have access to more than 1500 courses that provide practical skills that are in demand in today's global knowledge-based economy and also have the potential to enhance the organization's effectiveness in carrying out its mission. In addition, organizations whose mission includes workforce development, job skills training, worker retraining, youth empowerment, and the like may make courses available to the intended beneficiaries of their programs, and libraries may make them available to their patrons.
The courses are presented in interactive Shockwave or Flash format and can be taken online or downloaded. They are self-paced, and students can learn at their own convenience, using any PC connected to the Internet. Many courses address recent versions of technology systems and software, and some are designed to prepare students to take standard industry certification exams.
Students can find freelance work on Serebra Connect, a global online outsourcing marketplace. Each course passed raises the student's Serebra Connect Pro Level. Sellers with higher Pro Levels pay lower fees.
